Just some things I liked...
Okay, I have like 2 minutes to type this post and then I must go do homework and study. I'm in the process of reading this really good book, The Journals of Jim Elliot. Jim Elliot, for those of you who don't know, was one of the men killed with Nate Saint ministering to the Auca Indians. You know, The End of the Spear. Anyway, it's edited by Elisabeth Elliot, his wife and it's absolutely amazing...There was a couple of things that has stuck out to me this past weak that I really liked.
1. "Rachel gave a natural cause for not rising to be hospitable to Laban. Have I ever, Lord, because I am concealing idols within, given physical reasons for not rising in Thy service? Oh, may I be cut off entirely from the world, concealing no longer the false gods. May that in me which holds them be slain as Jacob declared it should be."
2. "Lord I want to be centering my interest on Thee, the God of God's house. Be then revealed to me that my desires might be fixed on the primary thing, Christ."
3. "Lord, keep me willing to be a pilgrim in the land of promise."
4. "In Benjamin, Jacob's life was "bound up". So in me God's life is bound up in much the same sense. His nature is given me. His love is jealous for my life. All His attributes are woven into the pattern of my spirit. What a God is this! His life implanted in every child. Thank you, Father, for this. Love through me today."
5. "Father, give empowering grace to be both faithful and fervent that I be not silent before Thy Son."
6. "I know not what He shall have of me until I am outside the worlds system- until it is crucified to me."
7. "I must share if I would keep, Theses blessings from above. Ceasing to give I cease to have, such is the law of love."
8. " He is sent before to prepare the situations I must face, He keeps me in the way."
9. "Transparency allows for no impurities or flaws."
10. "If I display earnestness for God's work, He will give strength and wisdom to accomplish it."
