Simply Doing It

Just a little something from Sunday. It's also posted here. I won't be posting every entry from our Oikos blog on mine, just some of them.

"What is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all" Eph. 1:19-23

What an amazing thing that has for so long gone against our actions, Jesus Christ rules the church, THIS church, which is His body- not man! If Christ rules us then we have no time to rule ourselves and are therefore not subjected to the the things of ourselves. This is the exceeding greatness of His power towards us who believe. Christ has enabled us, filled us with the very spirit that raised Him from the dead. We ask the question, "where is the Power of God today?" The fact is that we have it. God is saying to His people just like He did to Moses at the parting of the Red Sea, "Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward. Lift up your rod, and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it. And the children of Israel shall go on dry ground through the midst of the sea". Ex 14:15-16. The Body of Christ needs to realize what they have in their hand, stretch it out and use it for His glory. Christianity is active not static. We cry out and talk about it, let us simply do it. "For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power". 1 Cor. 4:20. The kingdom of God is now. Eternal life is NOW, let's live it. The question now is how? How do we use this rod that is in our hand? How do we walk in the authority God had given us? We must practice righteousness. No football player would play without practicing. Why would we? Just because we may have the uniform on doesn't make us a player. We as Christians must practice daily walking in His presence. We must practice mercy, forgiveness, love...all those things that make up who He is. He is in us! Christ in you- Christ in US- the hope of glory!
We have to come to the point where we able are to say "follow me as I follow Christ". We have to live a spiritual life, we have to simply do it.

"You are my portion, O Lord; I have said that I would keep Your words. I entreated Your favor with my whole heart; Be merciful to me according to Your word. I thought about my ways, And turned my feet to Your testimonies. I made haste, and did not delay To keep Your commandments. The cords of the wicked have bound me, But I have not forgotten Your law. At midnight I will rise to give thanks to You, Because of Your righteous judgments. I am a companion of all who fear You, And of those who keep Your precepts. The earth, O Lord, is full of Your mercy; Teach me Your statutes". Ps. 119:57-64
