The Bond

One thing after another. Let's just say this month has been a rough one but I've been learning a lot. It amazes me. There has been so many changes in my relationships with people. I've had to deal with things that I've never had to deal with in my life. Bitterness and anger. And yet in the midst of it all He has shown me so much. We as His children are created in His image which means He created us with the capacity to love like Him. That statement right there, when you think about it long enough, will blow your mind. BUT, the amazing thing is, because He created us with the capacity to love like Him, that means we have the capacity to forgive like Him. Anything less than that is compromising what He's equipped us with. My great grandfather once said at the end of his life, "When all hell breaks loose, we often discover who we really are. We can become bitter, blame God, and walk away, or we can hold to the truth that feelings change, but God does not". How true. Christ remains the same and that's the hope we have in the midst of chaos. We just have to hold fast. His love bonds us to Him and we have a choice to walk in it or not. God will not just snap His fingers and make us love people. Sometime I wish He would...it would make things easier haha! but we have to take part in His suffering as well. It's all about being conformed to His image.

"Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus." Col 3:12-17
